The Enhanced Business Information Center (e-BIC) partners with a wide variety of agencies and organizations to provide monthly classes for small businesses on topics related to starting a business in DC, selling to the DC government, business credit and loans, and non-profit management. Starting your Business in DC

Start a Business in DC: DC Small Business Development Center teaches attendees the steps they will need to take to start up their DC for-profit business.

Write a Business Plan: DC Small Business Development Center teaches attendees the components of a business plan and the resources that are available to help them prepare a viable plan.

Get Licensed and Legal: DC’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs and Office of Tax and Revenue hold one-on-one office hours for established businesses and for start-ups.

Start a Home-Based Business: e-BIC staff introduces entrepreneurs to the steps that they need to take to get the simplest of businesses up and running (it’s easy!).

All about LLCs: Local tax expert Gregg Mauro walks business owners through the various implications of conducting business as a Limited Liability Company.

Introduction to Business Insurance: Benjamin Horton, JD, explains to attendees about the risks that they face as business owners and what they are able to do to mitigate those risks.
